Texas’ current Attorney General, Ken Paxton, was born December 23, 1962 in Minot, North Dakota, while his father was stationed there on military duty, but he now considers McKinney, Texas his hometown.

After graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas (BA in psychology in 1985 and MBA in 1986), he worked for two years as a management consultant before beginning his study of law at the University of Virginia. He practiced as a corporate lawyer for several years before running for election to the Texas House of Representatives. Paxton served 10 years as a representative, then ran for the Texas Senate in 2012. When former Attorney General Greg Abbott won his bid to replace Rick Perry as Governor of Texas in 2015, Ken Paxton won election to Abbott’s vacant post as Attorney General.
