The 27th annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Western Swing Festival is this weekend–October 27-29–at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
The Wagon Train left Jacksboro, Texas on Sunday, October 22. You may see the wagons this week as they make their way to Perrin, Mineral Wells, Weatherford, and Azle before arriving at the Stockyards on Thursday, October 26th. Even if you can’t go to the Gathering over the weekend, you might still go on Thursday to watch the Wagon Train roll in!
Over the weekend there’ll be a ranch rodeo and team roping events, cowboy music and poetry, western dancing, auctioneering, and a chuckwagon cooking competition. Mmmm! Can’t you just smell the mouthwatering chili and cornbread?

If you’re anywhere near Fort Worth, you could hardly find a better field trip to give you a true taste of Texas culture! 🙂
And if I sound unnaturally enthusiastic, it’s because this event has long been on my personal Bucket List of things to do in Texas!
