The city of San Antonio, Texas is celebrating its 300th anniversary this year!

That’s right. San Antonio was founded in 1718. That means the city was already 118 years old when Travis, Crockett, and Bowie fought Santa Anna at the Battle of the Alamo. San Antonio was 58 years old when John Hancock and Samuel Adams signed America’s Declaration of Independence and 69 years old when George Washington and Ben Franklin signed the U.S. Constitution! San Antonio was founded when Ben Franklin was a boy of 12. That’s OLD!

A big celebration will be going on all year with lots of festivities planned! You’ll want to keep up with events on the SA300 Tricentennial website. 🙂
